Performance

There’s no denying these socks keep your feet warm. With a tog rating of 2.34, they are warmer than even your average thermal socks.

Using an extra-heavy bulk yarn they resemble the old school classic woollen variety – without the wool. Made of 92% acrylic, the long pile cushioning adds extra comfort as well as warmth. The real heat retention lies in the intense brushing process, giving the insides a downy fluffy feel that traps warm air close to the skin.

Verdict

Ideal for casual rambling and general outdoor activities through winter, they are less suited to more technical pursuits. With little shape and a generous size guide range we wouldn’t recommend these on long treks as they can loose shape and cause bunching in your boots. After a number of uses and washes the brushed pile begins to matt up and bobble making them better suited to more gentile pursuits. An ideal answer to your sacred dry fresh pair of socks for cold nights in the tent. Chunky but light, snug and quick drying in a range of colours and lengths.
