Craghoppers Byron Gore-Tex jacket
Promise
Stay dry in the heaviest downpour
Performance
Craghoppers have kept it simple with this subtly contemporary spring jacket. This reasonably light (approximately 600g for a large) jacket will see you dry through a wet and windy urban jungle or out on the misty moors with its 2-Layer GORE-TEX Performance Shell construction.
A peaked hood with one-handed draw cords folds neatly into the velcro-sealed collar, while waterproof zips complete the Byron’s extra protection from the elements. The cuffs are velcro adjusted and an internal personal audio pocket provides a handy headphone port that keeps your sounds safe from the rain.
The Byron has a softer, slightly less crunchy feel than some of its competitors, and a generous cut makes for comfortable protection even over a short sleeve base layer.
Verdict
With only two external pockets and no draw cord on the hem, this coat is well suited to the urban explorer and weekend rambler in both looks and technical specifications. Finer details, like the soft lining and brushed collar keep you that bit cosier. While it may not tick all the tech boxes for the hard-core adventurer (like a flimsy peak on the hood), with a lifetime guarantee it’s certainly a jacket to be reckoned with this Spring.
