Alone in the Wild gets tough

by WideWorld

10.09.2009

A new Channel 4 series follows an adventurer as he attempts to survive, alone, for 50 days in the Canadian wilderness.

Ed Wardle, a freelance producer, cameraman and adventurer was dropped into Yukon territory with just basic provisions and cameras and forced to survive alone in the wild.

As his transport plane disappears in the opening episode, Wardle is instantly overwhelmed and frightened by the realisation that he is completely alone. He finds it hard to make decisions, but manages to set up camp. The escapist dream he has harboured since childhood is a lot harder than he ever imagined.

Wardle is a freelance documentary film maker, series producer, camera operator and adventurer. He was series producer and summit cameraman on Discovery Channel's acclaimed Everest - Beyond The Limit series and has produced and filmed for BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, National Geographic and the Discovery Channel.

Viewers can follow his Twitter updates and leave comments for Wardle on the Channel 4 website (below). One reads: "In a way I feel I'm living vicariously through you. Looking at life in the Yukon through your eyes is great. Are you cold at night? How did you cook your fish? What did you use for bait? The bugs look bad, how bad? What are you doing to prevent the bites?"
