If you fancy travelling somewhere beautiful, get fit and make money for charity at the same time, you may be in luck.
Outdoor adventure company, Across The Divide, has spaces left on its highly sought-after Icelandic Ultra Marathon, running from July 15th – 19th, 2010.
At 55km (33miles) long, the route takes in some of Iceland’s most dramatic and picturesque landscapes in the southern half of the island.
The route is a challenging, but incredibly beautiful and varied one. Beginning in the region of Landmannalaugar, it takes competitors through meadows, geothermal springs and mountains, ending up further west in Thorsmork.
This destination point is an amazing valley surrounded by three huge glaciers, which Icelandtotal.com describes as “one of the most spectacular places in the country.”
When the runners finally meet the finish line at Thorsmork, they will have a chance to relax their weary muscles in the area’s naturally hot pool.
As an added incentive, the organisers are offering a £50 discount to those signing up before January 1st, with all other costs regarding flights, accommodation and race entry included in the overall price.
By taking part you would also be contributing to over £43 million the company has already raised for various charities since its creation 13 years ago.
