Dame Ellen MacArthur has reached Hull Marina on her round Britain voyage to raise awareness and money for her charity, the Ellen MacArthur Trust.
Hull is where MacArthur began her first solo voyage - round Britain - back in 1995 and she has said she remembers the moment when she left the port on that trip and how much it taught her about herself and her capabilities. A decade later she would break the world record for the fastest solo circumnavigation of the globe.
This time round MacArthur set sail on May 3rd from Cowes in the Isle of Wight, where she now lives. She is embarking on a four month voyage round Britain, with a crew of young people recovering from cancer and leukaemia, in her boat Scarlet Oyster.
Eighty-five young people will have their turn helping her sail the 48-foot boat the 2,000 nautical miles around the country, stopping at 17 ports. It is scheduled to return to Cowes on September 13th.
