Coming to you this summer, a new range of top-end bins for expert use.

Performance

Nikon’s new EDG series incorporates 7x42, 8x42, 10x42, 8x32 and 10x32 models and uses the latest cutting-edge optical features. They’re designed to delight professional naturalists, birdwatchers and nature lovers: employing Nikon’s famous ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass lenses, they improve images for superior contrast and outstanding resolution.

Another homegrown featre is Nikon’s field flattener lens system that minimises field curvature — aberrations that occur when focusing on the centre of a field of view causing the periphery to go out of focus, and vice versa — to delivers sharper, clearer images all the way to the lens periphery.

True nature lovers will also love to know that they’ve gone for eco-glass optics and environmentally safe materials in production, where all lenses and prisms are free of lead and arsenic. And if you get really up close with nature – especially of the aquatic kind – you’ll be thrilled to hear that they’re waterproof up to 5m/16.4 ft. for 10 minutes too!

Verdict

Top-notch features and construction should make these a must-buy for keen observers in the field. If you’re due a new pair of bins, hold off ‘till summer.
