Remember that advert for a certain Irish stout, the one where surfers threw themselves into a sea that had taken the foamy, CGI, form of Thor’s horses? Well, even more thrilling is the forthcoming film, Dream Result, by Tyler Bradt and Rush Sturges, due for release in Spring 2010, featuring whitewater kayakers tackling the boiling waters of hell itself.
All right, Norway and Iceland. But the rivers and rapids that extreme freestylers Ben Marr, Lane Jacobs, Patrick Camblin, Ben Brown, Steve Fisher, Bradt and Sturges, among others, zip, flip and barrel-roll through are certainly in a rage of Biblical proportions.
Aside from the boat-bound gladiators' fiercely beautiful natural arenas, Dream Result’s most jawdropping scenes involve the maverick paddlers shooting over the lip of various waterfalls, with reckless, grinning, abandon. “We’re risking all to break new ground in our genre,” admits Steve Fisher in the trailer, as his posse carries out a non-stop barrage of brinkmanship with Mother Nature.
So Dream Result is all about big air, mental freestyling and lots of brass monkeys? Well, yes. Basically. And for a sneak preview, see WideWorld's VIDEO section. But for the full-length feature, you'll have to wait until next Spring.
