What have Jane Goodall, Lance Armstrong, Ed Viesturs and Kelly Slater got in common? They all use Twitter to blog about their lives.
National Geographic Adventure has just listed its favourite sportspeople, explorers and adventurers who use the social networking tool - so you can follow them online too.
"From eco-activist David de Rothschild to alpinist Ed Viesturs," you can now "keep an eye on the ever-changing world of adventure," says the magazine.
The list includes British primatologist Jane Goodall who has studied chimpanzees for the past 45 years. You can follow her on Twitter at: twitter.com/JaneGoodallInst
Eco-adventurer David de Rothschild is at: twitter.com/DRexplore; mountaineer Ed Viesturs is at: twitter.com/edviesturs; Tour de France hero Armstrong blogs at: twitter.com/lancearmstrong; and surfer Slater (the site is actually run by his management team) at: twitter.com/KellySlater
And so, in 140 words or less, here's a taster from the hero of the peaks, Ed Viesters: "Yo John! OK so now you got me tweeting. Thanks for this nice note.". It's apparently a message meant for John Cumming, Director the US Ski and Snowboard Association who himself Tweets at: http://twitter.com/powdrjdc
But that's Viesturs' only message. Maybe he's too busy mountaineering to update us mere mortal souls.
