The deadline for submissions to an annual human rights and photography award is getting close. Anthropographia is designed to offer an opportunity for photographers to show their commitment to human rights issues through their work.
The exhibition highlights the work of international photojournalists at various stages of their careers reporting on issues central to human rights.
This follows the ethos of Anthropographia which is to ‘illustrate the complexity of humanity and to bring awareness to human rights issues through an international photojournalism exhibition’.
This year, 24 photoreportages and 10 multimedia productions will be selected by Anthropograhia’s advisory board (which includes members who are recognized for their exceptional photojournalistic work, their commitment to contemporary photojournalism and their dedication to human rights advocacy).
Anthropographia said it focuses on a dual conviction: ‘the endurance of photojournalism as an evolving medium and the international promotion of human rights and the fight for social justice’.
The winners will participate in a private viewing of Anthropographia’s exhibition in Montreal in September 2010, and Anthropographia will pay flight costs and accommodation.
One photoreportage will be published in Polka magazine while a selection of the best photoreportages and multimedia productions will also be published in the online magazine Burn.
The deadline for all submissions is December 1st, 2009.
Anthropographia is currently working on putting together an international network of exhibitions in 2010. These include shows in Geneva from March 5 - 14, New York from May 12 – 16 and Montreal from September 1- 31.
