LifeVenture Silk Mummy Sleepers
Promise
A comfortable, clean and sweeter-smelling night is promised, with only a few grammes of weight in your pack. Can these new silk sleeping bag liners stand up to the sleep test?
Performance
We love these. Whether you’re adding insulation to your own bag, using one as an extra layer of protection in a dubious hostel bed, or even just sleeping in it on its own in the high summer, the silk bag is already a versatile barrier between you and the outside world. Where these LifeVenture models differ is with a neat bit of treatment with something called EX3: apparently this provides you with a barrier against bacteria and odour, mosquitoes and bed bugs. Our own tests found this to be quite good at protecting against odour – even after several hot nights in camp. The manufacturers claim the EX3 treatment can last for two years, or 35 washes.
Verdict
A great and useful addition to your kit. As a lightweight camper, this reviewer generally finds it useful to have an extra layer of insulation in case it’s needed (a silk bag adds around 2C to your temperature) and this tiny package does the job brilliantly, with the added bonus of the EX3 treatment.
