ReadyBed
Promise
Unless you’re hard as nails and you’re ready to bed down on a wad of bracken and moss to get your kip, the one thing that makes the outdoors great is a good night’s sleep. ReadyBeds are a nifty solution – lightweight inflatable bed/sleeping bag combos that come rolled in a smallish pack with a battery-operated pump for easy inflation.
Performance
Readybed is far from lightweight, but it does at least come in a neat bag with shoulder straps, and for its size it is pretty light. Pumping is a cinch, while sliding into the fuzzy warmth of the bed slot is a delight. On the down side, you’ll have to slide the airbed part out when you want to wash the bag – and there’s that nagging sense of sleeping on a lilo, even though it’s covered in cottons.
Verdict
No-one's going to pretend that these things can get you up Everest – but they’ll guarantee you a few good hours shut-eye. Just get someone else to do the pumping and washing for you.
