Teva X-1 Evolution Outdoor Shoe
Promise
Can Teva's loud and proud trail shoes match up to some heavy duty activity? Our tester finds out...
Performance
When you first take the shoes out the box the thing that strikes you is how light they are. For a trail running shoe that's intended to stand up to the rigours of off-road abuse, this doesn't inspire huge amounts of confidence. However, on closer inspection the build quality looks good. The X-1 Evolution features a synthetic and mesh upper for a superlight construction that keeps the feet cool with Teva's 'Spider XC' sole for enhanced traction. On the foot the shoe is very comfortable. During a brisk three-mile run along the south coast path the shoe stood up well, the lightness being a particular advantage. A post-run inspection revealed no visible problems but only time will tell if the lightweight construction will stand up to more demanding off-road activities.
Verdict
In summary a pretty good trail running shoe at a great price. It seems to benefit from the lightweight construction with its comfort. Only time will tell if the build quality stands up to more demanding off road punishment.
