Lifeventure Sleeplight 750 sleeping bag

Promise

Lifeventure’s new bag comes with a special vacuum sack for easy packing, dry storage and even use as a pillow.

Performance

Most sleeping bags come in pretty flimsy packaging. Many is the time that you’ll attempt to squeeze your bag back into the sleeve and be rewarded with a rip down the seam. Lifeventure’s new model hopes to eradicate the problem with a roomier bag that allows you to pack up and then compress.

It’s devilishly simple, really, and it works. Packing up is no problem, with a fold-down top and an extra valve in the sack that your open to push the excess air out. We managed to fit the bag into all sorts of shapes, from tight cylinders to flattened rectangles – a boon when you’re packing up your rucksack neatly.

It stays dry and airtight, and even when you use it as a pillow by blowing up the empty bag there’s a good amount of cushioning. We found the best results were found by stuffing a few spare clothes inside first to give it a bit of weight, then letting a bit of spare air inside do the cushioning.

The bag itself is neat too: there’s two inner pockets, one at the top for things you’ll need quickly, and one deep down near your feet for valuables. An extra pocket on the outside is good for glasses, phones, gloves and things you want faster access to.

Several versions of the sleeping bag are available – from lightweight, to the 1450, which has a comfort rating of +5°C and the 1800, with a comfort rating of +2°C.

We reviewed the lightest model, the 750 (750g), whose synthetic filling keeps you warm in summer temperatures and for indoor use. It also features EX3 technology to ward off insects and bacteria.

Verdict

You’d get away with using this in late spring or early autumn quite comfortably, and if you’re hostelling it’s a versatile bag that can be used all year round, especially in light of the useful security pockets. Anything that keeps stuff dry, well packed and doubles up is good in our books, and this does the job.
