Super-comfortable and lightweight thermals for the cold outdoors
Performance
With weather like we’ve had, thermals are the first thing on your mind before setting foot outdoors. We’ve had quite a few new models arrive at WideWorld, and these are fast becoming the favourites for our female staff.
There’s several things you need your thermals to perform. Insulation, dryness, comfort and thickness are what we look for. These Kathmandu models score high on all categories. Their Thermaplus technology provides a super-thin knitted fabric that wicks moisture away and keeps you warm thanks to two quite different surfaces: inside a brushed texture absorbs sweat and transports it away from the body, while a smoother surface on the exterior dissipates the moisture for rapid evaporation.
This same inner surface creates a really comfortable layer against the skin, while the extremely thin nature of the whole fabric means you’ll forget it’s there. We found the v-neck helps with this too – not too tight, it allows you freedom of movement that round-neck thermals sometimes lose.
This has been road-tested through the last month and it’s one of those great pieces that you can just forget about – surely a compliment.
Verdict
For the price, you’re getting an effective technology that’s clearly better than using simple layers. Particularly good for low-impact sports, especially in the wet.

Really is great Thermals. It is attractive enough to wear without anything over the top of it. Great value for money. A must for any camping addict.
