Etre Touchy gloves
Promise
These gloves think they have all the answers - they'll keep your hands warm while still giving you access to fingertip control over your equipment.
Performance
If you've ever cursed your clumsy gloves for making you miss a perfect photo, then these could be the answer. They're amazingly simple: a pair of warm, pure wool gloves with the thumb and first fingertip left naked. This gives you instant control over a whole range of gizmos, from GPS units, cameras, phones and even things like fishing rods that need delicate tweaking.
While the knit isn't exactly hardcore for more rugged activities – there's no protective patches or waterproofing, for instance – for the casual hiker who loves instant access to their gadgets, the Etre Touchy glove seems to be a neat solution.
They come in several colourways, but be aware that they're hand wash or dry clean only: in other words, these aren't for the muckier of your outings in the wild. That said, they pack down small, are light, and even stay fairly warm in the wet too.
Verdict
A good second pair of gloves if you've pitched camp and are setting off for a recce: a good primary pair if you're just happy taking a walk on the lookout for the perfect photo opportunity.
