Mountain Hardwear men's Synchronicity jacket

Promise

A tough, breathable winter sports jacket filled with goose down that'll keep you warm and toasty on the slopes.

Performance

WideWorld tested this jacket on a trip to Beaver Creek, Colorado last month. It spent a week in a snowstorm, down ski slopes and snowshoeing at the top of the mountain in some fairly cold conditions. In other words, we really put it through its paces.

The shell is made of nylon and it's insulated with goose down - fantastic when you're heading to the top of the mountain for 20 minutes in a chairlift and the sun's decided to hide behind the clouds. It's also incredibly water repellent - we 'bit it' several times and despite being covered in snow, the jacket remained dry inside. This is particularly good if you want a break for a couple of hours and don't want to put sodden clothes on for the next run.

Even the hood is insulated - a must when all you've got is a thin wooly hat for protection on the coldest days. Like all Mountain Hardwear products, they seem to have thought of everything - water-resistant handwarmer pockets and pit zips to air out if you're simply getting too hot, and an inside pocket to store your essentials.

This jacket doesn't come down too low on your torso either, so it allows all the flexibility you need when you're doing winter sports. Plus it looks great so you can also use it apres ski.

Verdict

We love this jacket - it's perfect for skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing on your winter hols, and if the weather turns really cold, you'll still have the protection from the elements you need.
