Mountain Hardwear Medusa ski gloves
Promise
Gloves designed for the rigours of high-altitude mountaineering. Mountain Hardwear bonds the waterproof, breathable OutDry® membrane to the glove's nylon shell to seal out water, wind and cold. These babies are also lined with removable fleece inner gloves for comfort which can be worn on their own.
Performance
Don't be fooled by the rise in temperatures where you live - a large number of winter resorts across the globe are still enjoying the snow storms and there's still plenty of time to book those ski trips (the higher resorts and the increase in snow machines mean some are open until June!) Here's the thing though - I for one can never seem to find a pair of gloves that will truly keep my hands warm and dry for the entire trip. But the men's Mountain Hardwear Medusas did exactly that. This is largely thanks to the OutDry technology that they employ (this is apparently going to be the first real contender to rival GoreTex). OutDry is an innovative Italian waterproof and breathable membrane designed by an Italian company to waterproof footwear, gloves and other clothing. The membrane is directly bonded to the external layer of the shoe or glove, sealing any possible water entry point. Now add a pair of fleece 'inner' gloves and you've got a pair of really very nifty winter hand warmers. The Medusas have long 'sleeves' which more than cover your wrists (complete with an elastic tighter and a strap to secure them to your wrists). They've also got leather palms and fingertips for extra durability and warmth.
Verdict
They may be pricey but these really are the Rolls Royce of winter gloves.
