Limited edition Sony WALKMAN W252
Promise
Wearable, water resistant MP3 player with unique camouflage finish
Performance
Adventure nuts with a hankering for hiding better get ready for some portable music that rocks the survival style. The new limited edition Walkman from Sony has just launched, and it’s camo, camo, camo.
This light (43g), all-in-one music player has the distinct advantage of being wire-free, so no nasty snags on your collar from wayward cables when you’re out and about, stalking deer or avoiding Viet Cong guerrillas in the Laotian jungle. What’s also pretty neat is that it’s water resistant – you can wear it in any weather, get it as mucky as you like and then just rinse it off when you get home. You can even wear it in the shower, but as it’s IP5 rated, it’s not recommended to submerge it or keep it under a solid pouring of water for any length of time.
The lightweight, rechargeable battery delivers 90 minutes of listening from just a 3-minute burst at the mains, while a full 11-hour charge can snag you 11 hours of music play – just plug it in to the laptop and transfer your tunes via a simple drag and drop transfer system. The 2GB capacity on board gives you around 470 songs to listen to as you trek.
Verdict
Simple, hassle free and actually delivers what it promises – not many camo goods can say the same. Clumsier types may fear breaking the unit, however, so if that’s you, opt for a separate earphone/Mp3 player combo.
