Biking fanatics looking for a new challenge will want to sign up for the Cycle to Cannes bike ride 2010. Registration has now opened for the 1500km adventure across the Med, taking place from the 11-16th March 2010. The annual six day event is the only closed road cycling experience from London to the South of France and gives amateur cyclists, fit commuters and cyclosportive riders the chance to ride like a pro, with full support and road closures.

The ride coincides with the MIPIM property fair, and many of the participants are professionals in development, architecture or planning, who will swap their lycra for suits after the ride. But cyclists from other professions are encouraged to take part; the ride is not a race, with each 'peloton' (the main pack in a road cycle race) riding at the speed of the slowest rider. With an open and friendly atmosphere and a minimum of 100 kms to cover each day, the event is a great chance to raise some money for charity – the 2009 race raised £400,000 for causes such as LandAid.
