Splash About Warminone baby wetsuit
Promise
Tiny neoprene wetsuit for your tiddlers that doubles their active swim time
Performance
This may come under the category ‘Well in my day, we didn’t bother with all this gumph’ for some dads, but after testing the Warminone we’re converted. It’s a special baby wetsuit that covers the whole body in traditional, though thin and lightweight neoprene. It works in the same way as a normal suit, trapping water and keeping it warm next to the body to extend your comfort zone in the water – essential for babies, whose small size mean they lose heat faster.
The Warminone has a soft, fleecy inner like your favourite sweatshirt, and silky cuffs around the neck, wrists and ankles. It opens all the way down the back with a long Velcro strip that’s a cinch to handle and gives you a very large target to hit when you’re holding a squirming child!
The makers boast of a 100% increase in swim times thanks to this suit, and we can believe it – it’s also good just for hanging around the beach, river or pool in because the suit acts as an effective sun barrier, keeping out the burning rays of the summer (once they arrive…).
Verdict
Comfy, easy to get the nipper in and out of, and even aids their buoyancy – which is great to give them more confidence in the water. Babies will need to wear a swimming nappy when inside this, but we found there was plenty of room for that too, with extra space in the cut of the suit that held it comfortably. A good suit from a good range: you can buy these for kids up to 24 months.
