PiSAT K-Light
Promise
A solar-powered lantern the size and weight of a can of pop, its combination of LED lights and solar power make it a very bright but eco-friendly option for the outdoor enthusiast. It's also water-resistant, virtually indestructible and should last for 3,000 charges - essentially a lifetime of recreational use.
Performance
I charged my K-Light for nine hours initially (as recommended) and I've been playing around with it on and off for a day now. It's lightweight, hardy and comes with a stand/handle combo which is really useful for hanging from the inside of a tent, from a tree, or standing it up on a camping table. What's more, the refractor cap unscrews, turning the lantern into a pretty powerful torch.
Verdict
This is a nifty little camping lantern. It's lightweight and gives off a powerful beam. You also have the warm fuzzy feeling inside that for every lantern sold, a portion of the profits go to support the PiSAT's Light for Africa programme which provides 'micro-grants' for African women to manufacture and sell K-Lights.
