"Get More Britain For Your Buck" is the slogan for the new 'value for money' campaign sponsored by VisitBritain, the national tourist office for England, Scotland and Wales, and Virgin Atlantic.
In addition to pointing visitors to London's museums, a city tour of Edinburgh, stately homes and castles, the campaign says the place to go for outdoor adventure is Wales.
"Get wet and wild in Wales", the website tells tourists. "Want to get out and about or try something new that costs very little? Then Wales is the perfect place for you. Craggy coastline, sandy beaches, sublime scenery and mountainous terrain combine in one big adventure playground, boasting 498 miles of national trails and 18 regional walking routes. Climb, walk, sail, mountain bike, raft or fish in one of Wales' unspoiled National Parks all against the background of ancient castles, slate-clad villages, woodlands and waterfalls."
VisitBritain and Virgin Atlantic Airways invested £650,000 in the joint campaign to help consumers uncover the best of Britain. The co-branded website www.getmorebritain.com is an online resource with regional destination guides and a 'top 25 showcase of must-sees'. The Best of British round-up includes the Scottish Highlands and England's South Coast. Adventuring in Wales is one of the 'hottest tickets for 2009,' it says.
