Nairn's Oat Bakes
Promise
Oat-based crisp substitute from the Scottish cracker supremos.
Performance
An excellent snack for the trail that you might overlook. These aren't really crisp-like at all, more like small flavoured oat biscuits, really. They're tasty enough, with three flavours available - though to be honest, I'd find it hard to tell Sweet Chilli from Mediterranean Tomato. But the taste is good! They're baked, not fried, and made from wholegrain oats. The result is a very handy energy food, with plenty of carbs, a low fat content for a snack like this, and hardly any sugar or salt.
Verdict
Nairn's have cooked up a treat here - never mind the fact that they're GM free and are free of preservatives, flavourings and other nasties. They're a great trail chomp and just as nice to dip when you're scooping up dinner from a mess tin round the campfire.

Can you actually eat this stuff?
