In the new series of Man vs Wild, survival expert Bear Grylls, shows just how far he is willing to go to give us survival tips, and create good television, by performing a filthy-water enema.
Most of us are used to seeing the adventurer pushing the boundaries of human survival and although we often marvel at the extent he is willing to go, one particular stunt the new series offers will produce an altogether different reaction.
Whilst simulating the predicament of being stuck out at sea on a raft, the WideWorld favourite highlights that one of the main dangers people face is dehydration. With the only fresh water available being full of bird droppings, Grylls demonstrates how as a last resort it is possible to perform an enema that could turn out to save your life.
During graphic images of him performing the task, he warns that he’s “not expecting this to be particularly pleasant but there are stories of it saving people's lives.
“By performing an enema you bypass your body’s gag reflex enabling the body to rehydrate itself. This is possible because the body can absorb fluid via the colon,” Grylls assures the camera. It might be best to leave it to the professionals.

I really like watching Bear Grylls in Man Vs Wild. Every episode is different because of his bravery and survival skills. Sometimes I wish that I can work with him and also experience Mother Nature first hand... Reste
