You might have been unsettled last week with various news reports warning that British beaches are more polluted and dangerous than last year. Well, though that's true statistically, there's still hundreds of beautiful - and safe - bays to head towards this summer.
The Marine Conservation Society has launched a website that allows you to search the entire country for beaches that have been recommended by its recent audit: just punch in the details of the area you want to go, and an interactive map shows you the exact locations of every beach in the area that's just as good as it was last year.
You can also search to find which beaches are lifeguarded and RNLI lifeguarded, so if you're taking kids or want to try your hand at some watersports you can go ahead in safety.
The UK coastline is nearly 12,500 miles long - over three times the length of the French coast. Use the online beach guide and you're bound to find somewhere that's ideal.
