Gura Gear Kiboko camera bag
Promise
Gura Gear claims to be a new, smart way of transporting your photographic equipment. Its camera bag - the Kiboko that WideWorld is road-testing - is 'designed by photographers for photographers using the latest technology, best designers, and highest-quality materials.' It's said to be lightweight, durable, comfortable and fully-functional. So is the Kiboko up the WideWorld test?
Performance
Gura Gear's Kiboko isn't just designed by any old photographer. The brains behind this beauty happens to be Andy Biggs, an award-winning wildlife photographer who felt that there was nothing on the market that really suited his needs.
Biggs often flies off to the world's most far-flung destinations and ends up roughing it in savannah and swamp alike. He needed a bag he could safely stow his camera body and lenses in on the aeroplane but one that he could also sling on his back when the going got tough. Thus the Kiboko was born. It's about the size of a piece of hand luggage - so you can legitimately stow it in the overhead bins on your flight. But, zip down the back and two padded back straps pop out, transforming it into a rucksack.
There are two large pockets on the front, both of which stretch the length of the bag, and are are ideal for paperwork, pens, passport and other items you need to grab in a hurry. Here's the nifty part - the main section is divided in two and is complete with removable Velcro dividers meaning you can comfortably put camera bodies, lenses, cleaning kit, etc. in there, but we removed all the dividers from one side and packed our clothes in that half and camera equipment in the other: perfect for a long weekend away or a few days' on assignment.
Verdict
Just what WideWorld's been waiting for.
