Chatham Cruz Sailing Boot
Promise
Quality, durability, marine aesthetics and performance all form an integral part of the new Cruz sailing boot.
Performance
For the past 20 years, Chatham has traded on the weekend sailor, growing into one of Britain's key marine clothing and footwear brands.
From their AW2010 collection comes the all-new Cruz sailing boot, a great addition to Chatham's range of deck shoes. 100% waterproof, they are made from premium leathers and styled to suit your needs in or out of port.
Featuring a fully enclosed bamboo membrane lining, there is no chance of seepage (unless you get an unfortunate up-and-over splash down the leg). During any sea spray calamity, the aqua jet-channeling soles will be sticking your feet firmly to the deck without scuffing it up. With anti-bacterial EVA moulded foam socks that wick moisture away you'll stay dry and odor free for sailing seasons to come.
Verdict
Having been assured that I must get a size larger than usual, I was surprised to find the boot was tailored for a very narrow foot - or was it? It certainly didn't look too narrow. After a semi-comfortable stroll around the local moorings it wasn't until days later I read the sentence: "This boot also has dual fitting…" With the removal of the in-sock, comfort was suddenly tailored to my canoe-footed needs. This of course means if you are a wider-footed fellow, then you won’t have the extra cushioning the moulded insole provides, but it keeps your foot from feeling strapped down by the uppers and is as comfortable as any welly. Overall a relatively light and very effective boot whether you're strolling back to port or cruising out to sea.
