Mr iSpy Digital Camera Binoculars
Promise
A clever, lightweight hybrid of digital camera and binoculars for snapping exactly what you see. But what about the wobble when you’re shooting from far off?
Performance
These are a brilliant idea: don’t bother carrying both binoculars and camera when you’re on a mission. Just take a very light (only 350g) gadget that does both. OK, the resolution isn’t going to win you any photographic awards – the 1.3mp sensor takes shots up to 1280 x 1024 pixels resolution – but this is really more than enough for the casual hiker. What worried us most before trying them out was the long-distance wobble: on a normal camera, shooting at full zoom normally creates a hell of a lot of movement at the focal point of the shot, causing smears and fuzz. Incredibly, for what is essentially a very cheap camera indeed, there was hardly any of that in evidence when we were shooting. Uploading was a cinch with the USB – we didn’t even bother using the provided software.
Verdict
A fun, budget pair of bins that are small, light and handy for wildlife snaps, landscapes and action photos from a distance.
